Overview of Known Search Bot Reporting, Tracking and Filtering
Known Bots. You know you have them especially when you're running CPC campaigns. In CAKE you now have the ability to track, report, and even choose to not pay affiliates for known search bot traffic. CAKE will manage the known search bots list internally, which will be the standard reference for the feature.
There are several places where this will be available throughout the CAKE platform:
- In your reporting section, custom views, we've added a filter that says "Exclude Bot Traffic"; please note, the default is to include known bot traffic and the checkbox with be unchecked by default. You can check this box to view reports excluding known bot traffic.
- In the main Setup tab > Tracking Settings subtab, you can choose to not pay out affiliates via CPC or CPM for bot traffic. This will automatically filter out known bot traffic from the Affiliate Portal. (Please note, we will still be charging for usage fees on bot traffic since we are still tracking and filtering this traffic).
- Rules Targeting: You will now be able to target Bot as a device type.
- Affiliate Portal: Affiliates will be able to exclude known bot traffic in their reports if they choose to by checking the Exclude Bot Traffic in their click reports.
